Up Up and Away

The cerulean sky and easterly breeze on the weekends of 25-26May 2013 back dropped the  annual Tabanog Festival in Padada,Davao del Sur. Now on its 2nd year, the event attracted a dozen of kite flying enthusiasts and hundreds of spectators. Individuals competed in the Dogfight category where they maneuvered to fight with each other airborne on day one. The second day of the festival was the main event, kites came in different unique designs and sizes and was judged according to its ease of flight and gracefulness as well.

A whooping 2K pesos went to Adrian Morro plus trophy and certificate for winning the 1st prize, he also coveted the Best in Offense Award. 1K and 500php went to Reymar Cesar and Leomar Bismanos respectively, both also brought along trophy and certificate. The grand prize of 3K for the Kite Flying went to Reymar Cesar, 2nd Prize was Duanne Kim Cervantes and 3rd prize was Jason Escosa they also took home trophies and certificates.

A consolation prize of Php 200 was given away to all of the non-winning participants as a token for their effort and talent in kite making. The Best in Tiurok award was bestowed upon James Allida for his halloweenish kite. Head Turner award went to Reymar Cesar for his Sexy Butterfly entry. This special award was based upon the decibel of the audience shouting and clapping.
