Kadayawan is a harvest thanksgiving festival celebrated every 2nd week of August highlighted by street dancing participated by various contingents from different parts of Mindanao, and with a colorful floral float parade participated in by the business sectors. It also celebrates the cultural unity of the various ethnic groups that inhabit the region since time immemorial, thus the slogan... Ten Tribes OneVibe!. Its the grandest festival in the island of Mindanao to boast.
It was the posting of Renwick from CS Palawan of his coming for the Kadayawan that generated the biggest number of Couchsurfers gathered in Davao City by far. CS Palawan, CS Manila, CS Cebu, CS Surigao, CS Boracay, CS Madagascar, CS Russia, CS USA, CS Spain and CS Germany were with CS Davao to revel in the festivity.
The Couchsurfers made a dent in the history of the Kadayawan by staging the first Free Hugs campaign at the People's Park . It was towering Joe of CS Germany who got the most hug.
Dinner followed at the Bogsers By the Sea Restaurant. After some few drinks, the rain poured like no tomorrow that marred the Al fresco mode. Went downtown to Zed's for a Karaoke night and drinks in complete abandon.
